We are happy today to see that , our second generations of “Association of Beauty Therapy & Cosmetology” workers are equally focused & working so hard for the same cause to promote professionals as the founders from 1985 (25 years ago).


Joan Thornycroft

Since 1983 - Joan Thornycroft visits India since 1983 and is associated with us since then. During that time Butic school was the only school in India, affiliated to BABTAC.

In 1985 - Joan Thornycroft, become CIDESCO Educational Chair person. In 1985 she came as a British Examiner in Butic school and got associated with her since then.

Joan Thornycroft is the mother of Association of Beauty Therapy & Cosmetology (INDIA).

CIDESCO International founded in 1951 was having 33 Nations as sections.

It was her dream that, I should take efforts to bring INDIA on CIDESCO map.

Education & CIDESCO :

The primary aim was, to from a section.

To start giving CIDESCO Exam.

First Exam was held in 1992 and since then, Beauticians from all over India, are giving this exam every year.




India had it’s first CIDESCO affiliated school in 1995.

Butic was the only CIDESCO affiliated school till 2006.



Getting India into CIDESCO section :

Getting section for India, was a big challenge for us.

In the year 1999, in BASAL Switzerland Congress, India was approved as a CIDESCO section.



Every year ABTC is representing India at CIDESCO International congress.

Main focus of the CIDESCO is, to educate the professionals, so we have started having our own examination.

Today all over Maharashtra, we have more than 2000 ABTC certified beauticians.

In the last 10 Years, there has been a tremendous growth in this sector.

Wellness industry in India has grown leaps & bounds.

All the corporate are establishing themselves in this industry.

In this sector, Million rupees turnover is taking place, but unfortunately there are very few educationists & training organizations.

ABTC for last 25 year was only spread in Maharashtra.

Today because of schools coming all over India.

We would like to spread our training modules.

We can request the Government to make rules, to help & support our profession.

Association now going to insist & make the changes required for this professional.

And we request all of you to help us in its growth.
